The substance flow data of phosphorus in the Yangtze River Economic Belt of China from 1950 to 2020 provides annual data on phosphorus flow driven by artificial processes. The data were calculated using the mass equilibrium principle method - the material flow analysis method, with the unit being t P/yr. It contains the average value, as well as parameters of uncertainty such as coefficient of variation (CV), 5th, 25th, 75th, and 95th percentiles. With these data, the historical trend of phosphorus utilization in the Yangtze River Economic Belt can be analyzed, and sustainable phosphorus management strategies for the future can also be explored.
