Enables gap junction channel activity. Acts upstream of or within detection of light stimulus involved in visual perception; gamete generation; and synapse assembly. Located in gap junction. Is expressed in several structures, including eye; gonad; intestine; liver; and sciatic nerve. Orthologous to human GJA10 (gap junction protein alpha 10).
