VPRS 8919 Authorised List of Subject Index Headings (Personnel Registry)

This single volume series contains an alphabetically arranged list of authorised subject index headings which controlled the indexing of personnel registry files created under an annual single number system which was in operation from 1978 to 1992.A Table of Contents to the volume is located inside the front cover of the volume. The Table is arranged alphabetically by primary subject heading and gives a reference to the primary subject numbers. A three page description of the subject based recordkeeping system precedes the table of contents. Subject headings are listed alphabetically in the remainder of the volume.This list was originally designed for use in the Personnel Registry of the State Electricity Commission VA 1002. Its purpose was to outline the physical arrangement of the Subject Index Cards (located in VPRS 8918) and to arrange in alphabetical order a list of all subjects covered by correspondence files. The list also functioned as a thesaurus to authorised terms.References are made in this list to other indexes which have been transferred to PROV custody. These are: Subject Index (VPRS 8918); Nominal Index (VPRS 8920); Geographical Index (VPRS 8921); Classifications Index (VPRS 8922); and a list in chronological order of SECV Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission Cases (VPRS 8923).
