The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a flexible cellulosic carrier which comprises at least one functional circuit (printed circuit) and/or which is akin to at least one functional board (circuit board). The object of this process is to provide flexible cellulosic carriers that are functionalized by means of printing using a functional ink, for example an electrically conductive ink, which provides good performance (signal speed/dielectric properties of the carrier), is economical, thermally and dimensionally stable and is able to be produced at an industrial rate simply and reproducibly. To achieve this, the process primarily consists in preparing or implementing an aqueous fibrous suspension comprising paper pulp and/or a pulp of (micro/macro) cellulose fibrils; producing a wet fibrous mat from this suspension; optionally, draining this wet fibrous mat, optionally pressing this wet fibrous mat; printing one of the faces of the wet fibrous mat by means of at least one functional ink that is capable of transmitting, emitting and/or processing at least one signal, so as to produce at least one topography comprising at least one track for the circulation of the signal, optionally at least one component that is capable of acting on the signal; optionally, coating/encapsulating the printed face of the fibrous mat by means of at least one wet, preferably fibrous layer; at least partially removing the water contained in the fibrous mat that is optionally coated in accordance with step e). The invention also targets printed circuits and functional boards, in particular circuit boards, obtained by means of the process according to the invention. The latter provides a gateway to new objects, such as breath-activated or touch computer keyboards. Setups and kits for implementing the process constitute other subjects of the invention.
