The 89 fresh feces samples (including 47 modified Kato-Katz thick smear-positive volunteers and 42 healthy controls from five rural communities) were collected in duplicate, with one for microscopic examination, and another one immediately stored at -80℃ until DNA extraction. All of the subjects were found no other parasite eggs (such as horkworms, roundworm, whipworm, pinworm, Taenia) by microscope.
