Microbial necromass is an important source of soil organic C (SOC) in terrestrial ecosystems. However, few studies have explored the distribution of microbial necromass and its contribution to SOC along the soil profile in global scale. Here, we collected a global dataset (2411 samples from 216 papers) of soil microbial necromass in 0–100 cm depths from wetlands, farmlands, grasslands and forestlands.

微生物残体(microbial necromass)是陆地生态系统中土壤有机碳(soil organic C, SOC)的重要来源。然而,目前鲜有研究在全球尺度下探究土壤剖面中微生物残体的分布规律及其对土壤有机碳的贡献。本研究构建了一套全球尺度数据集,涵盖湿地、农田、草地与森林生态系统0~100 cm土层的土壤微生物残体数据,共计包含来自216篇文献的2411份样品。
