Streptomyces are considered as valuable engineering targets for enhancing various antibiotics production. However, Streptomyces have complex developmental and genomic features, which constrain the detection of the genome structural and regulatory information that are required for engineering. Here we apply strand-specific RNA-seq (ssRNA-seq) to a platform strain for antibiotics production, Streptomyces venezuelae ATCC 15439, to better understand the genomic traits.
