HeGeL is the first Hebrew natural language understanding benchmark dataset co-created by Bar-Ilan University, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and Tel Aviv University. This dataset contains 5,649 Hebrew location descriptions collected through crowdsourcing, covering diverse location types across three cities in Israel. The dataset was constructed using participants' environmental memories rather than physical maps, ensuring the diversity and authenticity of the collected descriptions. The HeGeL dataset has applications in geographic information retrieval and spatial cognition research, aiming to solve complex spatial reasoning and environmental modeling problems.
