TheCenterforNanophaseMaterialsSciences(CNMS)isaNanoscaleScienceResearchCenterestablishedaspartoftheDepartmentofEnergy(DOE)OfficeofSciencecontributiontotheUSgovernment’sNationalNanotechnologyInitiative.LocatedatOakRidgeNationalLaboratory(ORNL),CNMSprovidesadiverseusercommunitywithaccesstostate-of-the-artnanoscienceresearchcapabilities,expertise,andequipment.Theseresourcesareappliedtoexecuteacutting-edgescienceprogramwithemphasisontheoryandsimulation;nanofabrication;macromolecularsynthesisandcharacterization;andunderstandingofstructure,dynamicsandfunctionalityinnanostructuredmaterials.Thetoolsusedincludescanningprobemicroscopy,electronmicrocopies,neutronscattering,opticalspectroscopy,heliumionmicroscopy,andatomprobetomography.
