Literature Search Strategy and Relevance Screening for Organisational Service Process Redesign

Summary This dataset documents the literature search strategy and relevance screening carried out for a master's dissertation in Information Science (MCI), jointly offered by the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUP) of the University of Porto. The dissertation concerns the information-centred redesign of an organisational service process, following an action-research approach. The file records, in a structured and reproducible form, how the bibliographic base for the literature review was identified, searched and screened for relevance. Contents The upload is a single spreadsheet with two worksheets. "Resultados recuperados" (Retrieved results) holds the search strategy, run in two iterations: for each review topic, it records the search expression, the criteria and filters applied, the number of results retrieved per database, and notes on coverage and on the need for refinement. "Registo de relevância" (Relevance log) is the screening log: one row per retrieved reference, grouped by topic, with title, abstract, authors, source, year, citation count, and a relevance category (Incluído / Intermédia / Não relevante / Ruidoso). Methodology References were retrieved from three databases - Scopus, Web of Science and EBSCOhost - through topic-based searches run in two iterations. The first iteration (all three databases) applied open-access, English-language and temporal filters (last 10 years by default; 15 years for systems integration; 25 years for process reengineering), assessing the top 20 results per database by relevance through title and abstract screening. A second iteration (Scopus and Web of Science only) refined selected topics with document-type and subject-area restrictions, assessing the top 10 results ordered by relevance and publication date. The log contains 120 retained references published between 2003 and 2025. Searches were run between November 2025 and January 2026. Abstracts are in English; topic labels, column headings and strategy notes are in European Portuguese. Reuse The file can be reused to inspect, replicate or extend the literature search, or as a worked example of a documented, iterative search-and-screening strategy. The abstracts are reproduced as returned by the source databases and remain subject to the rights of their respective publishers; the open licence applied to this upload covers the compilation and arrangement of the data, not the third-party abstract texts.
