资源简介:
BACKGROUND These works contribute to the contemporary photographic field in Australia. Land Dialogues was curated by James Farley & Christopher Orchard, and sponsored by the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Wagga City Council, Arts NSW and Charles Sturt University. It was held in conjunction with the Land Dialogues Conference, supported by Charles Sturt University.
The artworks included in this exhibition addresses the ongoing scholarly debate on how is contemporary photography responding to land and space concerns. CONTRIBUTION The gap in knowledge that my work addresses is how photographic processes might be as representational and perceptible as the subject being photographed to chronicle communities in ways that align with their values. The research question could be: In what ways might a collective spiritual consciousness within earth-based communities be revealed and documented through a series of photographic images Directions for future research is currently being explored via a PhD at RMIT. The public gallery is based in regional New South Wales. SIGNIFICANCE The key outlets in which this debate is playing out are within galleries such as Centre for Contemporary Photography, Australian Centre for Photography and Monash Gallery of Art. The most significant practitioners whose work is a point of departure for my own include Sarah Anne Johnson, Sally Gall and Jeff Whetstone. Key thinkers who have influenced my conceptual explorations include Arnd Schnieder and Fred Ritchen.
