Hydraulic jump aeration and turbulent dissipation on beds roughened by rigid and flexible vegetation

This dataset supports the paper “Hydraulic jump aeration and turbulent dissipation on beds roughened by rigid and flexible vegetation.” It contains all data used to generate the figures, presented in an Excel spreadsheet. The data comprises laboratory measurements of air-water flow properties (void fraction, bubble count rate, velocity) for hydraulic jumps over three vegetation types (rigid, turf, flexible) across Froude numbers 2.8-5.5. Key findings show that vegetation morphology, more than density, is the dominant control on aeration. Flexible vegetation induced distinct turbulence modulation despite lower flow resistance. The data demonstrates that equivalent roughness height is an insufficient metric, underscoring the need to account for specific flow-vegetation interactions in design.
