Single-molecule sequencing of the nematode model Pristionchus pacificus. P. pacificus PacBio genome sequencing

Over the last two decades, the nematode Pristionchus pacificus has been established as comparative model for studies with Caenorhabditis elegans and more recently, it developed into a highly promising animal system to study the genetic basis of phenotypic plasticity. While an existing draft genome facilitated the identification of genes controlling various phenotypes, its draft status complicates genomic studies and represents a major obstacle for P. pacificus to be even more broadly studied. Here, we present a new genome assembly that is completely based on single-molecule sequencing data.
