Genomic investigation of bone tuberculosis highlighted the role of subclinical pulmonary tuberculosis in transmission

Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) without symptomatic pulmonary involvement has been considered to be non-transmissible, but recent work has shown that asymptomatic pulmonary TB (PTB) is an important source of tuberculosis (TB) transmission. Genomic investigation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) isolates can provide insights into the epidemiological role of EPTB patients in the transmission of TB.
