WISE statistics - biology (2009-2023), 2025

The WISE Statistics biology tables provides aggregated levels of reported biology data. Aggregation levels includes waterbodies, countries, and Europe. It is based on annual mean values of Ecological Quality Ratio (EQR) data from rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal monitoring sites or water bodies. The data is collected annually through the WISE-SoE reporting under the WISE-2 dataflow. The data are usually collected by countries within monitoring programs defined under the Water Framework Directive and used in the classification of the ecological status or potential of rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal water bodies.
