Exiguobacterium sp. TBG-PICH-001 Draft Genome sequencing and assembly

Organic solvent tolerant bacteria are a relatively novel group of extremophilic microorganisms, are being explored for their potential and can be used as efficient biocatalysts in a non- aqueous system. Proteases represents about 60% of the total world wide sale of the enzymes. To be used as biocatalysts for peptide synthesis, proteases need to be stable in the presences of organic solvents. A potent proteolytic Exiguobacterium TBG-PICH-001 was isolated by our research group from Pichavaram estuary of Tamil Nadu, India. Solvent tolerant proteases from Exiguobacterium sp. TBG-PICH-001 is a novel in this regard.
