DRILLING THROUGH THE DUST OF IRAS 08572+3915
收藏资源简介:
Galaxy mergers are thought to trigger strong accretion onto supermassive blackholes, during a phase in which the system is heavily obscured. However, thedynamics of this process, and of the possible feedback from the active galacticnucleus, are still largely unknown. We propose here a joint NuSTAR/XMMNewton(200/112ks) observation of the most energetic, embedded galactic nucleus in thelocal Universe, which will be observed by JWST as part of an approved EarlyRelease Science proposal. The combination of stateoftheart Xray observationsand high spatial resolution IR spectroscopy will allow us to define the energybudget of the system, to assess the impact of AGN activity in its surrounding, and to study in unprecedented detail this fundamental phase of black hole growth. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
