PREPARING FUTURE ENGLISH TEACHERS FOR THE RESPONSIBLE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: THE ROLE OF AI IN TEACHER EDUCATION

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has created new opportunities and challenges for teacher education. Future English teachers are expected not only to use digital tools but also to evaluate their pedagogical value, ethical limitations, and potential influence on learners. This article examines the role of artificial intelligence in preparing future English teachers for professional practice. The study is based on a qualitative review and conceptual analysis of recent academic literature, international guidelines, and educational policy documents. The article argues that artificial intelligence should be integrated into teacher education as a supportive instrument rather than as a replacement for professional judgement. AI-based tools can assist future teachers in lesson planning, materials development, language assessment, personalized learning, and reflective practice.
