This demo dataset contains an electrophysiology session and a fiber photometry session, illustrating the required CELLBASE-type data format and hierarchy for the ACh-DA_CellBase_Extension MATLAB code used to analyze cholinergic and dopaminergic single-unit and fiber photometry recordings (https://github.com/kiralyb/ACh-DA_Cellbase_Extension).Fiber photometry recordings of acetylcholine (ACh) and dopamine (DA) release were obtained from the basolateral amygdala (BLA) and the ventral striatum (VS), respectively.Single-unit recordings were collected from the horizontal limb of the diagonal band of Broca (HDB) and the ventral tegmental area (VTA), combined with optogenetic tagging of basal forebrain cholinergic neurons (BFCNs) and midbrain dopaminergic neurons (DANs).CellBase.mat files contain basic analysis results along with brain area information for individual mice (fiber photometry) or individual cells (electrophysiology), based on histological track reconstruction.TrialEvents.mat and FiberEvents.mat files contain timestamps of behavioral events synchronized with electrophysiological or fiber photometry recordings, respectively.StimEvents.mat and StimEventsb.mat files contain timestamps for optogenetic stimulation used to tag cholinergic neurons (via stimulation of the HDB) and dopaminergic neurons (via stimulation of the VTA).TT1_X.mat files contain spike times for individual neurons (in tenths of a millisecond).proF.mat files contain cholinergic and dopaminergic ligand-dependent, isosbestic, and dF/F sensor signals along with timestamps (sampling rate: 12,048 Hz).See also 'Cholinergic–dopaminergic interplay underlies prediction error broadcasting' by Király et al., 2026 (https://doi.org/10.64898/2026.02.19.706866) for further methodological details.
