This dataset contains metadata for pooled faecal samples used in the deep sequencing component of the study. Samples from gorillas and humans were pooled in groups of 20, with a few exceptions. Livestock pools contained fewer samples: cattle pools included 16–17 samples, and goat pools 14–15 samples. Each pool was assigned a unique identifier (e.g., UG_DNA_01). The metadata includes details such as pool ID, number of samples per pool, and host group. Sequencing was conducted at the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF).
