A comparison of shrub and open microclimates along an aridity gradient in the deserts of California

A comparison of microclimates along a desert aridity gradient in California. Seven sites were selected that start at the Panoche Hills near Los Banos California, and end in Sheephole Valley Wilderness, near Needles, California. At each site 3 pairs of shrub and open microsites were selected. HOBO ProV2 loggers were place in the shrub canopies and open microsites and set to record hourly. Loggers were placed end of October prior to rainfall for the desert and were removed at the of the growing season in May. Ephedra californica was the shrub used at all sites.
