COR1502 Expedition in the Pointe-des-Monts area of the St. Lawrence Estuary: marine geology data, sediment characterization

COR1502 Expedition took place from June 1st to 7th 2015 on board the research ship (R/V) Coriolis II. The general objective was to perform detailed geophysical surveys and collect different types of sediment samples, in order to assess sediment dynamics and the evolution of the submarine canyon geomorphology at Pointe-des-Monts.

This dataset includes sample locations and high-resolution images of the cores (CT-scan and photo). Different sediment properties were analyzed, such as: physical properties (spectrophotometry [L* a* b*, RGB, XYZ, Munsell color], gamma density, P-wave velocity and amplitude, fractional porosity, resistivity and impedance), magnetic properties (magnetic susceptibility) and chemical properties (X-ray fluorescence).
