资源简介:

Data set for the manuscript "Creation of Lunar-Like Rims in Ilmenite using Synthetic Solar Wind" submitted for publication in The Planetary Science Journal. In this Article, we expose terrestrial ilmenite to deuterium ions to mimic the solar wind exposure on the lunar surface. We characterize the compositional and structural changes within the subsurface of deuterium-implanted ilmenite using Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS). There are three zipped folders in this data repository: 1. "1-Nion UltraSTEM_EELS.zip": contains EELS data acquired on the Nion UltraSTEM (see methods in manuscript). All data are in dm4 format. Filenames are given by the energy ranges: low-loss (0-100 eV), Titanium L-edge (425-525 eV), Iron L-edge (677-777 eV), and Oxygen K-edge (500-600 eV). Each dm4 file contains two navigation axes and one signal axis. The navigation axes define a 2D map, and the signal axis contains an EELS spectrum with 2400 data points for each pixel within the 2D map. All analysis was done in Python using hyperspy. 2. "2-Hitachi HD-2700_HAADF.zip": contains High-Angle Annular Dark Field (HAADF) images obtained using the Hitachi HD-2700 (see methods in manuscript). Images are in dm3 format and used for image segmentation. 3. "3-Anylabeling_Image Segmentation.zip": contains results files with the segmentation results of the HAADF images. The segmentation results are used to determine the distribution of nanophase iron within the exposed ilmenite rims. Contains the following: Subfolders for each exposure time. Each subfolder contains three pre-processed masked images from Gwyddion (used as a guide for the Anylabelling segmentation, see methods in manuscript), output from Anylabelling segmentation in a JSON file, and processed npFe depth-distributions saved as a hyperspy signal. "example-2hr_distribution_processing.ipynb": code to create npFe depth-distributions based on image segmentation results. This code requires "2-Hitachi HD-2700_HAADF.zip" to be in the same parent directory. "summary-npFe_powerlaws.ipynb": code used to provide statistics of npFe distributions and create subplots shown in Figures 5 and 6 in the main text. "TRIM-*.npy": processed results from SRIM/TRIM simulations of 1keV D+ ions interacting with ilmenite (see methods in manuscript). These numpy files are used in the "summary-npFe_powerlaws.ipynb" notebook.
