资源简介:
This dataset includes Argos satellite telemetry and/or GPS satellite locations for 57 Hawaiian monk seals throughout the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI; Nihoa Island, Mokumanamana Island, French Frigate Shoals, Laysan Island, Lisianski Island, Pearl and Hermes Reef, Midway Atoll, Kure Atoll). Seals were instrumented as part of translocation activities within the NWHI. Given site-specific variation in threats and vital rates among NWHI sites, translocation has been used as a conservation tool by moving seals from areas of poor survival to areas with improved survival probabilities. Seals in this dataset include those that were translocated, as well as animal serving as non-translocated controls. Seals were instrumented in association with field camps or research cruises in the NWHI from 2007 – 2019. Here we provide a Master Deployment Log table with details about each deployment on each seal (across all datasets), as well as dataset-specific Deployment Logs and Location Tables with location data for each seal. These data have been post-processed to remove poor-quality locations (Location quality code Z from Argos satellites, locations based on <5 GPS satellites, or points indicating impossible movement speeds or angles removed using the argos filter routine in R).
