Abstract This paper examines how systemic and technological risk perceptions govern user trust within emerging digital banking ecosystems. Integrating technology trust metrics within macroprudential stability perspectives, we introduce the digital systemic Risk perception and Trust Framework (DSRPTF). The model is empirically evaluated using hierarchical OLS estimations across a sample of 400 digital banking consumers in Bangladesh. The empirical results demonstrate that perceived banking risk and cyberattack vulnerability are the dominant factors driving trust degradation. Conversely, operational disruption risk exercises a negligible effect, revealing an “emotional decoupling” mechanism where consumers normalize baseline infrastructural volatility. Crucially, digital literacy functions as an analytical filter that heightens user sensitivity to structural hazards, accelerating trust erosion under volatile conditions. Finally, a non-linear specification confirms that trust degradation obeys Prospect Theory’s diminishing marginal sensitivity axioms, collapsing exponentially at the nascent signs of institutional fragility.
