Low coverage sequencing across Phyllotis mice and a new reference genome.. Phyllotis

Phyllotis vaccarum (previously Phyllotis xanthopygus rupestris) set the world record for the highest dwelling mammal in the world following the live capture of an animal at 6,739 m on the peak of Volcan Llullaillaco in Chile. Here we generated a quality reference genome for Phyllotis vaccarum as well as population level low coverage whole genome sequencing across the range of Phyllotis vaccarum and other species of Phyllotis. These data provide the opportunity to address questions relating to species limits and boundaries in the genus as well as genomic regions possibly under selection to extreme elevation.
