RNA-seq of OsNAC300 in Cadmium treatment

It is known that transcription factors (TFs) are involved in the regulation of cadmium (Cd) stress response. However, the molecular mechanisms of TFs-regulated Cd stress tolerance remain largely unclear in plants. In this study, a rice NAC domain (NAM ATAF CUC related) transcription factor, OsNAC300, was isolated and functionally characterized to be involved in Cd tolerance. OsNAC300 was specifically expressed in roots and was significantly induced by excessive Cd, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and jasmonate (JA) treatment, and encodes a nucleus-localized protein. osnac300 knockout mutants were hyper-sensitive to Cd stress, while its overexpression conferred increased tolerance to Cd stress. RNA-Seq revealed that the mutants had many impaired functional genes responsive to Cd stress.
