A telomere-to-telomere chromosome-scale genome assembly of Tiera batfish, Platax teira

Tiera batfish (Platax teira) is native to the Indo–West Pacific region and is widely distributed in the South China Sea and waters surrounding Taiwan, China, representing a typical tropical nearshore marine fish species. This species is characterized by a distinctive black-and-white coloration and unique appearance, possessing both high ornamental value and good food quality, with features such as rapid growth and tender flesh. In this study, by integrating PacBio HiFi sequencing, Nanopore ONT ultra-long read sequencing, and Hi-C chromatin conformation capture technologies, we successfully generated the first telomere-to-telomere (T2T) chromosome-scale genome assembly of P. teira. This high-quality genomic resource provides an important foundation for functional genomics research, genetic diversity analysis, and selective breeding of the tiera batfish.
