NRS-16947 | Stock Book [Markwell Public School]

The purpose of the Stock Book was to keep a record of materials supplied to the school by the Department of Education, and of their expenditure and replenishment from year to year. Maintenance of the record was the responsibility of the Principal.The series from Markwell Public School is currently represented by a single volume, with entries dated to the years 1956 and 1960; it is not known whether there were any other volumes to the series. This volume was originally printed for use as a Needlework Programme Register, however, no such use was ever made of it. It now contains (i) a short list of handicraft materials, in pencil, dated ‘1956’ and headed ‘Stock on Hand’; (ii) a longer list, in ink, headed ‘Accountable Items 1960’; and (iii) an inserted sheet, bearing a similar but undated list, which is headed ‘Manual Arts Materials.’ All three lists are in the same hand.
