SYMBOLIC MEANINGS OF COLOR TERMS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK PROVERBS

Language reflects the culture, traditions, and worldview of a nation. Color terms are important linguistic units because they express not only literal meanings but also symbolic and cultural values. These symbolic meanings are shaped by the historical and social experiences of different communities. Proverbs preserve the wisdom and cultural heritage of a nation, and color symbolism in proverbs reflects people's beliefs, values, and perceptions. Since English and Uzbek cultures have different historical and cultural backgrounds, the symbolic meanings of color terms may show both similarities and differences. This study aims to analyze the symbolic meanings of color terms in English and Uzbek proverbs from a linguocultural perspective and to identify their cultural and semantic features through comparative analysis.
