The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Energy Unit, is offering grants to support the strategic deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure along the Lake Michigan coastline to promote EV tourism. Optimal charger locations and quantities were identified in part through a Michigan State University study on EV infrastructure development in the Lake Michigan Circuit area. This initiative aims to provide convenient and efficient charging options, particularly for tourists. Each optimal location is assigned a unique node number (#100-110 for DC Fast Chargers and #200-227 for Level 2 Chargers). This data layer includes all nodes (i.e., optimal locations) for both charger types and provides details on the total chargers required, existing chargers (including those in progress or operational), and remaining chargers still needed at each node as of April 2025. This dataset helps assess met and unmet infrastructure needs within the EV charging network, guiding future funding decisions for the Lake Michigan Circuit Program. Additionally, it highlights coastal locations where the public can access charging stations. This data will be updated on an as-needed basis.
