This dataset contains the input and results for the Streamlit application Europe Demand · Streamlit. We examine the impact of policy and technological measures on the European hydrogen demand between 2025 and 2050 in five-year intervals, with a particular focus on Germany. For this, we employ the open-source energy system model PyPSA-Eur in combination with a myopic optimization approach. The geographical scope covers the EU, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, and the Western Balkan countries, excluding Malta and Cyprus. The analysis encompasses 34 countries and 39 regions. The selected scenarios represent potential developments in the European energy system and contribute to rational decision-making regarding necessary measures. The reference scenario aims to meet climate protection targets in line with the European Green Deal. The focus is on a technology-neutral, region-specific approach without additional biomass use. Building on this, the following scenarios are further developed and refined to identify a range of potential demand for green hydrogen and its derivates: Low-Carbon Scenario: Achieving a 1.5 °C-compatible transition pathway High-Carbon Scenario: No further progress on climate action after 2025 Low H2 Cost Scenario: 25% reduction in CAPEX costs for electrolysers Grid Freeze Scenario: No additional grid expansion compared to the current status High H2 Demand Scenario: 20% increase in H2 demand in the HVC industry, aviation, and vehicles See live version at: https://europe-demand.streamlit.app/ Energy Model: Europe-Demand-Model Analysis: Europe-Demand-Analysis Project: H2Global meets Africa We are grateful for funding from the H2Global meets Africa project (03SF0703A) by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
