Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common complications of diabetes and was considered as the major cause of blindness among young adults. The level of microRNAs (miRNA) peripheral serum was observed to be altered during the course of diabetes. However, contributions to miRNAs to the risk of DR in type 2 diabetes (T2D) remains unclear. We listed 21 T2D inpatients of Chinese Han ancestry, consisted of 10 non-proliferative DR patients and 11 non-DR T2D patients. MiRNA was extracted from fasting peripheral serum and sequenced.
