This project aims at deciphering the genetic basis of the innovation and morphological diversification of the radula, key foraging organ and apomorphy of the Mollusca. To this end we use pooled tissue-specific transcriptomes from mantle, foot and radula building tissue of the viviparous freshwater snail Tylomelania sarasinorum. This species exhibits a pronounced habitat correlated radula polymorphism and is a member of an adaptive radiation that gave rise to unparalleles radula diversity in the course of trophic specialization.
