Over 60 percent of consumers in the United States who received ransomware in 2021 stated that they did not pay the requested ransom. Meanwhile, nearly 30 percent said that they did. During a ransomware attack, confidential information is obtained and held by the attacker who subsequently demands a ransom from the victim in order to release their files.
