Have the child remove excess snot from the nostrils. The operator stands directly opposite or to the side of the child, with the child's head slightly tilted back and held still. The operator takes out a special swab and slowly rotates the swab against the wall of the nostril into the child's nostril. When resistance is encountered, the swab stays in the nostril for 10-15 seconds, and then gently rotates the swab 3-5 times before removing the swab and placing it into the cryostat tube. During the operation, be careful to move gently so as not to cause discomfort to the children.
