Extreme Precipitation Events Catalogue based on Cross Scale Extremity for the Indian Peninsula

This repository contains the Extreme Precipitation Events (EPE) Database for the Indian Peninsula spanning the period 1951–2023, along with the Python codes used to generate, process, rank, and analyze the event catalog. The database was developed using an automated event-identification framework and provides a comprehensive catalog of spatiotemporally coherent precipitation extremes for climatological and hydrometeorological analyses. Contents Catalog_SP_1951_2023.csvCatalog of all identified extreme precipitation events (1951–2023), including event dates, duration, affected area, accumulated precipitation, and associated event characteristics. Threshold_MTM_AD_*.csvGPD parameter estimates for the *(1-7) day durations to identify the threshodl exceedance spatially continguous grid points and estimate their return periods. 1_day_ppt.csvDaily gridded openly available precipitation dataset provided by IMD, https://www.imdpune.gov.in/cmpg/Griddata/ Rainfall\_25\_NetCDF.html.. The accompanying source code enables users to reproduce the event identification, characterization, and ranking methodology, facilitating transparency and further methodological development.
