Kilauea 2018 fissure 8 lava flow velocimetry

The spreadsheet contains information derived from performing particle image velocimetry (PIV) on segments of videos collected by uncrewed aerial systems (UAS, drones) during the 2018 Kilauea lower East Rift Zone eruption in Hawai'i. 

Videos were collected in specific sites along the main Fissure 8 channel. Sites are numbered 1 to 21. For each video, the dataset reports the Site over which it was recorded, the date and time or recording, the distance of the site from the eruptive vent, the ground slope and channel width and depth at the site, and the measured mean and maximum velocities as obtained from the PIV analysis. The set also reports the derived effective viscosity we calculate using the above prameters.
