Compound VU0026921 is antimicrobial to S. aureus in a manner modulated by Mn. To elucidate information regarding the mechanism of action of VU0026921, we performed RNA sequencing of S. aureus exposed to VU0026921 in the presence or absence of excess Mn Cultures of S. aureus were exposed to either 100 micromolar VU0026921, 100 micromolar VU0026921 + 1 mM MnCl2, 1 mM MnCl2 alone, or untreated media. The experiment was performed in biological triplicate for a total of 12 samples. Note that the data for medium alone compared to 1 mM MnCl2 alone has been previously deposited at GEO: GSE124285
