As the application of nuclear technology plays an important role in our daily life. Thailand tends to develop the use of nuclear and radiation significantly every year. By definition, radioactive waste is the by-product of medical, research, and industrial applications using radiation. Despite being deemed unusable; it is still regarded as a safety risk due to its radioactivity and volume. Thus, radioactive waste requires careful management to protect both people and the environment.Additionally, reducing the burden on the future generation is another primary reason to require proper management. Therefore, providing the securities of radioactive waste management is one of the most effective measures to ensure the proper and careful management. Currently, the existing laws governing the use of nuclear and radiation in Thailand is the Nuclear Energy for Peace Act B.E.2559 (2016) and The Nuclear Energy for Peace Act B.E.2562 (2019). Presently, the ministerial regulation detailing the securities of radioactive waste management in Thailand is undergoing the process of drafting which is still ineffective and ambiguous. As consequence, this independent study aims to examine and suggest the securities of radioactive waste management in Thailand, especially the type of instruments that can be used as the securities and its assessment system. Furthermore, for Thai law analysis, there will be the comparative study of foreign laws, namely Austria, Canada, including the guidance from international organizations. In order to determine the most effective mean to guarantee the responsibility of radioactive waste safe in Thailand, it is necessary to identify the appropriate securities for Thailand's circumstances and international standards.
