To investigate whether rat adult hepatocytes would exhibit different characteristics dependent on their ploidy statuses, we compared the transcriptome profile of 2c, 4c and 8c hepatocytes by mRNA microarray. Overall design: Rat hepatocytes were isolated from adult female rats (5-14 weeks old). Hepatocytes were stained with Hoechst33342, and then 2c, 4c and 8c hepatocytes were sorted by FACS Aria II or FACS Aria III. Five independent experiments were performed.
