The data describes yield and quality traits for sweetpotato cultivated under drought and irrigated conditions in Kuru, Plateau state, Nigeria The experiment evaluated the effect of drought on the yield and proximate composition of fourteen accessions of sweet potato grown in Kuru, Nigeria. The accessions were laid out in the field using the randomised complete block design. Sweetpotato plants were subjected to drought-stress at 103 DAP (days after planting) until harvest at 150 DAP. Fresh tuber ranged from 2.14 t ha-1 to 21.18 t ha-1 but was reduced by as high as 68% in drought-stressed plants. Total storage root yield, crude protein, carbohydrate and dry matter content (%) were higher in the control than in the drought-stressed plants.
