An exploration of unusual antimicrobial resistance phenotypes in Salmonella Typhi from Blantyre, Malawi reveals the ongoing role of IncHI1 plasmids

Long-read genome sequencing of Salmonella Typhi isolates from Blantyre, Malawi. These isolates displayed fewer AMR genes compared to isolates recovered from the same period. We aimed to generate complete assemblies to resolve the known plasmid and chromosomal regions of S. Typhi H58 where AMR genes are often located. The assemblies also allowed us to describe the complete sequence of plasmids in the isolates.
