The experimental materials for this study were obtained from 312 Xinjiang upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) germplasms and their derivative lines collected in the laboratory at the early stage, including 180 (69 Xinluzao, 79 Xinluzhong, seven introduced varieties, and 25 Xincaimian varieties) upland cotton varieties in Xinjiang and 132 intermediate breeding accessions stored in the Cotton Genetic Improvement Team, College of Agriculture, Shihezi University. This study reveals the genetic regulation of fiber lint percentage, and informs targeted improvement of cotton fiber yield.
