The new frontier, 1949? Excerpts from the documentary which used footage from the 1949 scientific exploration cruise of the Velero IV in the Gulf of California and off Catalina Island. Various Velero IV activities include: dredge operation, winch operation, scuba diving, benthograph operation, clamshell sampler, sample net operation, sample collection. Flora and fauna include sea turtle, manta rays, a kelp forest, and tidepool specimens. Men included are: Captain Allan Hancock, Maurice Nelles, Fred Ziesenhenne, and others.
