Personalized mutation tracking in circulating-tumor DNA predicts recurrence in patients with high-risk early breast cancer

This study investigates the potential of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a tool for predicting recurrence in breast cancer (BC). This study analyzed ctDNA in the blood of 168 early-stage BC patients before surgery, post surgery and surveillance. They found that ctDNA detection was associated with a higher risk of recurrence and shorter disease-free survival. The study suggests ctDNA monitoring could be a valuable tool for identifying patients who may benefit from additional treatment.
