Protection of Conservation Category Wetland and Revegetation in Perth Eastern Region

The objectives of this project are to enhance the values of Conservation Category Wetlands, Priority Ecological Communities, protected lakes and an A class reserve, whilst improving, protecting and maintaining an ecological system that supports Carnaby's Black Cockatoo habitat. Construction of swales reduces the nutrients entering the Swan River and creates habitat and biodiversity in the project sites. Foreshore stabilisation occurs using gabion baskets and reno mattresses. Erosion control of the Swan River foreshore maintains water quality, protects ecological values and habitat on the foreshore. Increased habitat and ecological integrity of sites increases the resilience of the landscape to the impacts of a changing climate.
