A catalog of 125,000 skeletonized spiral galaxy images from DESI Legacy Survey.

The attached zip file named "skeletonized-galaxies" contains a dataset of 125,000 simplified, skeletonized images of late-type (spiral) galaxies, sourced from the DESI Legacy Survey. These images have been processed using Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks (cGANs) to reduce visual complexity while preserving structural features. This simplification supports precise quantitative analysis of galaxy morphologies, making it easier for researchers to study galaxy shapes without the challenges posed by the original, more complex imagery. Additionally, the "train-dataset" zip contains the training data for all the models used in this project: resnet50, cGAN, and a second cGAN for post-processing.
