资源简介:
A suite of melt inclusions from two lavas from Hawai'i (Pu'u Wahi scoria cone) and Samoa (Vailulu'u seamount) were characterized for Sr and Nd isotopes and major, trace, and volatile element concentrations. The goal was to identify whether Sr isotopic variability previously identified in melt inclusions from these two samples--using laser ablation ICP-MS techniques--could be verified using an ultra-low blank wet chemistry method that employs TIMS (Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry). While a prior study identified extreme Sr isotopic variability in the Pu'u Wahi scoria sample, we found no variability. In contrast, the extreme variability in the Samoan Vailulu'u lava was verified using the TIMS method.
