Seismic profiles of subsurface stratigraphy in the Mississippi Sound, from 2020-11-10 to 2021-12-07

Seismic reflection profiles collected with vessel-towed acoustic-source (0.5-12 kHz) and hydrophone receiver array, from 2020-11-10 to 2020-11-12 and from 2021-12-02 to 2021-12-07. Profiles were collected inside the Mississippi Sound between the eastern end of Cat Island, Mississippi, and the western end of Horn Island, Mississippi. Data were recorded in the open-source SEGY file format with integrated navigation data; they are provided in XTF format with supplementary SEGY files to provide additional data not contained in the XTF files. Profile data were collected to trace the unconformable marine isotope stage (MIS) 2 flooding surface between deposited Pleistocene and Holocene sediments in the study area. The resulting data will be used to interpret the location of paleo-drainage networks and evaluate their correlation with observed submarine groundwater transport and discharge patterns.
